Creating an FAA Report

Learn how to create a monthly FAA Report to submit to the FAA

Written by Danny Fobian

Spray drone operators can now simplify the task of compiling a monthly report for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Note: This feature is best suited for desktop computers. While available to use on mobile devices, it is not recommended at this time.

FAA Monthly Reporting Requirement

All operators holding a Section 44807 Exemption are required to submit an FAA report every month, regardless of flight activity. This includes months in which no flights occurred.

As stated in your 44807 Approval Letter, under Section F. Reporting Requirements, “Negative (zero flights) reports are required.”

If you have misplaced your 44807, view our article on Where to Find Your 44807 Exemption.

Obtain Flight Data For DJI and XAG Drones

Before You Start, download your flight information from DJI’s Agras Management Platform or XAG’s One Management Platform. If you have not flown this month, you can skip this step.

Important Note: This file should be downloaded in KML format. This is the same file that can be used to create an application map.

Unsure how to download and upload your flight logs from DJI or XAG? Click below to find out how.

After obtaining the KML file, upload it under the “Flights and Maps” tab. Click HERE to learn how to bulk upload DJI files, or click HERE to learn how to bulk upload XAG files.

Note: EAVision™ users don’t need to upload any files. Flight logs are automatically synced through the cloud via our EAVision™ integration.

Confirm Organization Details

If you haven’t already entered your organization’s information, now is a great time to do so. Once added, each FAA Report can automatically populate these details, making report creation much easier. This information only needs to be entered once. Click below to learn how.

Navigate to FAA Reports

On the top menu bar, click on "FAA Reports."

Create FAA Report

Select the “Create FAA Report” button.

Company Details

On the left-hand side, verify that your company's FAA information is correct. These details are pulled from your organization profile.

Information includes:

  • Company Name

  • Address

  • Phone Number

  • Exemption Docket Number

  • Exemption Number

  • Certificate of Authorization (COA) Number

If any information is incorrect, click on "Edit in Organization Settings."

Report Setup

Select the month you are reporting on, then choose the aircraft(s) to include in the report. This list of aircraft(s) is populated from the aircraft(s) that have been assigned to the organization. To update or add an aircraft in your organization, view the article Adding Your Aircraft to Your Organization.

Note: It is recommended to select all aircraft to ensure drones with zero flights for the reporting month are included.

Important Note: DJI aircraft names must match exactly, or AcreConnect® will not be able to link the flight files. Make sure the aircraft name in your Agras account and in the AcreConnect® Equipment tab are identical.

Flight Logs

Once you’ve selected the reporting month and aircraft(s), the corresponding flight logs will appear on the right-hand side, where you can review all your flights.

Change Pilot

You can change the assigned pilot for selected flight logs or all of them. Use the checkboxes next to each flight to select individual logs, or use the top checkbox next to the drone’s name to select all.

Next, from the dropdown, select which pilot you want the flight logs assigned to and click "Apply."

Generate Report

Once ready, click "Generate Report" in the bottom right-hand corner.

This will automatically download the report to your computer's File Explorer.

Note: FAA reports are not saved or stored after being generated, but you can create a new report at any time.

Submit Report to FAA

Check your 44807 exemption to confirm the correct email address for submitting your monthly report. While you can generally send your completed report to the FAA at one of the two addresses listed below, note that some exemptions may specify a different email. Be sure to carefully review your 44807 approval in its entirety to remain aware of all conditions, limitations, and responsibilities. The correct reporting email is listed in Section F: "Reporting Requirement" of your 44807.

If you have misplaced your 44807, view our article on Where to Find Your 44807 Exemption.

We’ve seen two different FAA emails listed in 44807 exemptions for submitting monthly reports: [email protected] and [email protected]. Please check your own 44807 approval to confirm which address applies to you.

Don’t forget to attach your completed FAA report!
